Robot Barista

The object

The Robot Barista uses two lever arms to drive hot water through a professional basket without electricity. Its group-mounted gauge helps the user shape pressure by hand, and the bottomless portafilter keeps the extraction visible for diagnosis.

Stainless steel, aluminum, and silicone construction keeps the mechanism simple, with no boiler or pump to maintain. Water must be heated separately, and lighter roasts may benefit from preheating, but cleanup is limited to the basket, screen, and portafilter.
