Gimme! Coffee puts cooperative ownership at the center of its identity. Founded in 2000 and re-established as an employee-owned cooperative in 2022, the Ithaca roaster gives worker-members a voice in major strategy through an elected board, member voting, financial transparency, and profit sharing. That internal structure mirrors its sourcing priorities: producer cooperatives form the baseline for its single origins and blends, and 95% of its coffee is Fairtrade certified, with organic lots purchased whenever possible. The roasting point of view favors consistency and balanced flavor rather than novelty for its own sake. Its cafés remain closely tied to the Finger Lakes community; the original Cayuga Street shop has served Ithaca since 2000. Community funding extends into the coffee lineup through four Rally blends, which direct 3% of sales to local nonprofits, grassroots groups, and producer partners. The result is a brand built around shared power—from farm organizations to the roastery floor and café counter.
