Cat & Cloud builds its identity around connection: coffee serves as the medium, hospitality as the practice. Founded by three friends, the Santa Cruz roaster frames each interaction as a chance to leave someone better than it found them, grounding its cafes in care rather than ceremony. Its menu spans dependable house blends and a changing single-origin lineup. The blends move from caramel, berry, and chocolate toward darker, fuller profiles, while current single origins cover washed, natural, and anaerobic-natural processing across light and medium roast levels. Flavor language stays vivid and approachable—blackberry and kiwi, green apple and butterscotch, blueberry and chocolate chips. Place matters. The original Portola cafe opened near the beach in 2016. Swift Street now sits beside the roastery, training lab, and main office, and contains the company’s only full kitchen. That mix of production, education, brunch, and neighborhood service captures the point of view: serious coffee without making seriousness the atmosphere.
